Accessories
MCCB accessories enhance the functionality, safety, monitoring, control, and integration of moulded case circuit breakers. While the MCCB provides core protection against overloads and short circuits, accessories extend its capabilities to support automation, signalling, remote operation, and system integration.
1. Protection & Trip Accessories
Shunt Trip (Shunt Release)
- Enables remote tripping of the MCCB via an external signal
- Commonly used for:
- Emergency stop circuits
- Fire alarm interlocking
- Building management system (BMS) control
🔹 Breaker trips immediately when the shunt trip is energized.
Under‑Voltage Release (UVR)
- Trips the MCCB when the control voltage drops below a preset level
- Prevents automatic restart when power returns unexpectedly
- Widely required in safety‑critical installations
2. Indication & Signalling Accessories
Auxiliary Contact (Aux)
- Provides ON / OFF status indication
- Used for:
- Remote status monitoring
- SCADA / BMS integration
- Control panels and annunciators
Alarm Contact (Trip Indication)
- Signals whether the MCCB tripped due to:
- Fault condition
- Short circuit
- Overload
- Helps differentiate manual OFF vs fault trip
3. Control & Operation Accessories
Motor Operating Mechanism
- Allows remote closing and opening of the MCCB
- Enables automated or programmable control
- Common in:
- ATS systems
- Critical feeders
- Industrial automation panels
Rotary Handle / Extended Handle
- Enables the operation of the MCCB from the panel door
- Provides a clear visual indication of the breaker position
- Improves operator safety by avoiding direct access to live parts
4. Mechanical Safety Accessories
Mechanical Interlock
- Prevents two MCCBs from being ON simultaneously
- Used in:
- Source changeover systems
- Dual‑supply configurations
Key Interlock
- Ensures a defined operating sequence
- Used where operational safety procedures must be enforced
5. Monitoring & Measurement Accessories
Current Transformers (External CTs)
- Used when the MCCB electronic trip unit supports measurement
- Enables:
- Load monitoring
- Protection coordination
- Energy measurement (with meters)
Electronic Trip Units (Upgradeable)
- Some MCCBs support interchangeable trip units
- Enables:
- Adjustable protection settings
- Selective coordination
- Basic measurements
6. Communication & Integration Accessories
Communication Modules
- Allow MCCBs to connect to:
- Power monitoring systems
- Energy management platforms
- SCADA or BMS
- Enable data such as:
- Breaker status
- Trip events
- Load conditions
(Integration level depends on MCCB model and trip unit type.)
7. Installation & Wiring Accessories
- Terminal shields and spreaders
- Cable lug adapters
- IP protection barriers
- Mounting kits and conversion kits
- Neutral pole accessories (where applicable)
These accessories improve installation flexibility and compliance.
Typical Applications of MCCB Accessories
Accessories are used to support:
- Industrial power distribution systems
- Commercial building switchboards
- Motor control centres (MCCs)
- Data centres and critical facilities
- Energy monitoring and automation projects
